PURPOSE:To obtain a light guide module which is less deteriorated in optical characteristic by constituting the light guides of a core constituting material having a relatively large refractive index and clad constituting material having the refractive index relatively lower than the refractive index of the core material. CONSTITUTION:This module is provided with bodies 4, 8 made of plastic having through-holes, the light guides housed in the through-holes and connecting means for optical fibers 6 provided near both terminals of the light guides. The bodies 4, 8 are constituted of two parts and the through-holes are formed of groves formed on the boundary face of these two parts. More specifically, the whole or part of the grooves forming the through-holes is previously formed to one or both of the two parts so that the through-holes are formed when both the parts are mated with each other. The light guides are constituted of the core constituting material 7 and the clad constituting material 5. The material 7 and the material 5 are selectable from a wide range of materials according to the method of forming the light guides; the former is so selected as to have the refractive index larger than the refractive index of the latter. |
