<p>PURPOSE:To utilize the extended portion in a captioned pad as the set portion of a mold in a forming process and also as the mounting portion of a product by providing an extended portion at the bottom of a cylindrical side wall as well as a flexible net on the top surface of an insert which is fitted to the inside of a pad where an air bag is to be stored with a cover. CONSTITUTION:A folded air bag 1 is stored inside a pad 11 placed on the center boss portion of a handle ring. The pad 11 composed of a soft synthetic resins cover layer 12 and an insert 13. The cover layer 12 having a thin fracture portion 12a on its top surface and the insert 13 having a flexible net 18 on its top surface make the air bag easy to fracture when it is spread out. An extended portion 16, which is installed at the bottom of a cylindrical side wall 15 of the insert, is utilized as a mounting portion and also as the set portion of a mold when the cover layer 12 is formed unitedly with the insert 13. A special member to set an insert in a mold when forming a cover layer is not required and the setting can be carried out easily.</p> |
