NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I {X is S, SO or SO2; R is H, lower alkyl, (CH2)n-A or formula II; n is an integer of 1-5; A is COOR<1> [H in (CH2)n may be substituted by lower alkyl or COOR<8>], OR<2> [H is (CH2)n may be substituted by OH], CONR<3>R<4>, NR<5>R<6> or CH(NH2)COOR<7>; n is an integer of 1-5; R<1>-R<8> are H or lower alkyl, further R<2> is acyl; R<3>-R<4> are CH2 COOH; m is 3 or 4, except when X is S and R is CH3} and salt thereof. EXAMPLE:2-(1,3-Benzodioxol-5-yl)ethanethiol. USE:A remedy for hepatopathy, having low toxicity and high safety and capable of being orally administered. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II (Hal is halogen) is reacted with a compound expressed by formula III to afford a compound expressed by formula IV in formula I.
