PURPOSE:To hold a stable image forming function by providing an electric charge imparting member, which faces the outside peripheral surface of a conductive fur brush with a slight gap between them, and a suction aperture part of a forcible exhaust means. CONSTITUTION:An electric charge imparting member 75 which faces the outside peripheral surface of a conductive fur brush 71 with a slight gap between them and the suction aperture part of a forcible exhaust means 74 are provided below the contacting part between the brush 71 and a conductive roll 72 in the rotation direction of the brush. That is, the toner whose electrostatically charged state is attenuated and attraction to the brush is weakened a long time after the end of copying is recovered before the start of the image forming process, and ozone or the like generated in accordance with the operation of the electric charge imparting member 75 is sucked and discharged by the forcible exhaust means 74. Thus, a cleaning device is obtained which has a stable cleaning effect and does not damage the image forming function of an image carrier.
