Washing machine comprises basket housed in cabinet, and agitator oscillated in basket at 300 rpm or less. The agitator has a disc- shaped base having an upward projection in the form of a triangular prism, with side edges from which the three vanes extend smoothly to overlie the base. The height of the projection is about half the outside dia. of the base, and the projection is submerged when the agitator is in still water.
