PURPOSE:To permit coarse gravels to be arrested at the beginning of soil run-off while making deposits flow down at the time of usual flood thereafter by setting the interval between a strut and a beam at a fixed interval greater than the diameter of coarse gravel. CONSTITUTION:Struts 1 are set through beams 2 in the widthwise direction of a river, where the interval L between the strut and the beam is regulated to 1.5-2 times the diameter D of coarse gravels contained in soil run-off. Coarse gravels can thus be effectively arrested at the beginning of soil run-off and allowed to flow down at the time of usual flood thereafter, permitting pocket areas to be recovered to usual state a check dam for next soil run-off to be secured.
