PURPOSE:To permit holding of an optical fiber essentially consisting of halide, etc., stably for a long period of time by using an inorg. material which is hardly corroded by the halide and has good heat conductivity to constitute a mechanism for holding the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:Laser light condensed by a lens is entered into an incident end 2a of the optical fiber 2 consisting of AgCl through a window 1. On the other hand, the mechanism 8 for holding the optical fiber is made into a halved and tapered cylindrical shape by using ceramics of silicon carbide. Since tapered cylinder is pressed by a coil spring 10 via tapered ring 9 to the fiber 2, by which the fiber is elastically formed. The ceramics of the silicon carbide is stable to AgCl and is not corroded by the same in spite of long-period contact therewith. The ceramics of the silicon carbide has the heat conductivity equiv. to the heat conductivity of metals and has an excellent heat radiating property and, therefore, the temp. of the contact part is kept low even if high-power laser light is passed therein. The fiber is thus held stably for a long period of time. |
