PURPOSE:To form a coated surface having excellent smoothness and uncontaminated with dust by coating a paint on a material to be coated being conveyed in the thickness beyond the sagging limit, transferring the material to a succeeding conveyor means, and drying the paint while rotating the material being conveyed around its horizontal axis. CONSTITUTION:The paint is coated on the material W to be coated being conveyed by a first conveyor means in the thickness beyond the sagging limit in the coating stage. The material W coated with the paint is transferred to a second conveyor means D from the first conveyor means in the succeeding transfer stage. In the succeeding drying stage, the paint coated on the material W conveyed by the means D is dried while rotating the material W around its horizontal axis (l). Namely, since the means for conveying the material are changed between the coating and drying stages, the generation of dust resulting from the paint can be surely prevented in the drying stage, especially in a baking stage, the smoothness of the coated surface is further improved, and the high-quality coated surface can be obtained.
