The high-speed train with aerofoil combines the advantages of a rail-bound vehicle with the advantages of a hovercraft. The traction wheels permit elastic and quiet running together with a larger friction face for the transmission of force. The drive wheels which are mounted in a scissors shape simplify the application of the hydraulic pressure thereto. It is however also possible for vehicles which are guided by their wheel rims to travel on both traction rails. The profile of the aerofoils can be adapted to the speed in such a way that the vehicle can lift off even at less than 200 km/h. This can also be promoted by the change of the angle of incidence of the aerofoil. The train can also travel under extremely bad weather conditions which is not possible for other hovering vehicles. This train can be used particularly advantageously for large overland distances because it permits speeds to be reached, and a degree of safety to be provided, which it has been impossible for previous trains to achieve.
