PURPOSE:To prevent inner short-circuit and to improve capacity by a method wherein terminal lugs of positive plates are, after being insulated from negative plates, cluster welded and it is connected to a lid plate; negative plates are connected to the bottom part of a metallic vessel by pressure welding. CONSTITUTION:Positive plates 6 are put in bag-shaped separators 8, and these separators having positive plates inside and negative plates 7 are laid alternately on top of another so that on the upper end surface end edges or core bodies of positive plates are protruded and on the lower end surface end edges or core bodies of negative plates are protruded to form a plate group. On both sides of the plate group, negative plates 7 shall be exposed. Then the plate group is placed in a metallic vessel 1. Next a gasket 4 is inserted into the opening port of the metallic vessel. Terminal lugs 6a which are led out from the end edges of positive plates 6 through slits 4 of the gasket 4 are cluster welded to a lead piece 9. After the lead piece 9 is spot-welded to a metallic lid plate 2, the lid plate is inserted into the gasket 4. |
