<p>There is disclosed a novel process to produce 2',3'-dideoxynucleosides such as, for example, 2',3'-dideoxycytidine, in high yields. More particularly, the various stereoisomers of 2',3'-dideoxynucleosides are obtained. The alpha - and beta -(L)-2',3'-dideoxynucleosides and certain alpha -(D)-2',3'-dideoxynucleosides are obtained as stereochemically pure compounds not heretofore obtained. The compounds so produced are useful as antiviral and antibiotic agents.</p> |
