PURPOSE:To permit the title heat pipe to be operated with a large output in a high speed, by a method wherein the tube body of the heat pipe is formed by a shape memory alloy and operating liquid is encapsulated into the tube body to make the heat pipe, while a movable body is attached to a desired place of the heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:Lid bodies 2, 3, made of a metal such as NiTi alloy, Cu, Ti or the like are brazed to the upper and lower parts, respectively, of the tube body 1 for a heat pipe formed by NiTi alloy and pure water is encapsulated into the tube body as operating liquid 4. The lid body 2 is provided with a movable body 5, turning about the tube body 1, while the lid body 3 is provided with a heat source 6. The movable body 5 is turned previously by an external force so that the tube body 1 receives torsional deformation. When heat is supplied from the heat source 6, the tube body 1 returns to a form before receiving the torsional deformation by the shape memory effect thereof, whereby the movable body 5 effects turning operation. In this case, the operating liquid 4 is encapsulated, therefore, the whole of the tube body 1 may be operated simultaneously even when the length of the tube body 1 is elongated and the operation can be speeded-up regardless of the length of the tube body 1.
