PURPOSE:To permit continuous operation while preventing an indoor side heat exchanger from being frozen, by a method wherein the pipeline temperature of the indoor side heat exchanger is detected when indoor temperature under room cooling operation is low and the operating frequency of a compressor is changed. CONSTITUTION:Upon starting room cooling operation, a timer circuit, incorporated into a LSI (air conditioning control circuit) 9, turns ON and compares a detecting temperature (t), detected by a thermistor 6 provided in the pipeline of an indoor side heat exchanger, with a set temperature T set in a resistance device 8. When (t)>=T, the timer circuit counts the frequency pulse of a frequency oscillating device 10 to control a power transistor 11 and operates a compressor 1 with the frequency (f1) from a power source device 12. When t<T is reached with reduction in room temperature, the compressor 1 is operated with a frequency lower than the frequency (f1) to increase the evaporating pressure of the indoor side heat exchanger and prevents the same from being frozen. Thus, continuous operation may be effected while preventing the indoor side heat exchanger from being frozen, the increase of the indoor temperature may be restrained and the improvement of feeling may be attained.
