PURPOSE:To eliminate electrical leakage between both end parts of an image carrier and developing roller and to prevent fogging of a developer by providing recesses along the circumferential direction of the developing roller to the peripheral surface parts at both ends of said roller. CONSTITUTION:The recesses 34 along the circumferential direction of the developing roller 31 are formed to both end parts of the sleeve 32 of said roller. The creeping distance between both end parts of a photosensitive drum 13 and the roller 31 is increased by formation of these recesses 34, 34. The electrical leakage tends to be generated between both end parts of the drum 13 and the roller 31 at the time of development, but the recesses 34, 34 are formed in both end parts of the roller 31 and, therefore, the creeping distance between both end parts of the drum 13 and the roller 31 is increased. The electrical leakage between both is thereby prevented and the fogging of the toner is prevented.
