PURPOSE:To obtain clear and beautiful images with excellent ink absorption properties, high luster and high image density, by composing an ink transport layer mainly of particles and a binder, and specifying the ratio of volume of the particles with a specified particle diameter to the total volume of all the particles. CONSTITUTION:An ink-supporting layer and a porous ink transport layer are provided on a base. The ink transport layer is constituted mainly of particles and a binder. The average primary particle diameter (d) is not less than 0.1mum, and the ratio of the volume of the articles having a particle diameter (x) in the range of d/2<=x<=2d to the total volume of all the particles is at least 90%. The mixing ratio (by weight) of the particles to the binder is preferably 1/50/50/1, and more preferably, 1/3-20/1. The thickness of the surface layer depends on the quantity of an ink droplet, and is preferably 1-200mum, more preferably, 3-80mum. Where an image obtained is to be observed from the side opposite to the side onto which the ink is given, it is preferable that the surface layer has a light-diffusing property. |
