PURPOSE:To obtain amorphous silica having 24-faced polyhedron shape and given particle diameter, by treating synthetic zeolite particles with an acid to remove sodium, etc., and making the particles amorphous. CONSTITUTION:Zeolite having X-ray diffraction pattern specific to zeolite of analcime type and 24-faced polyhedron shape is synthesized by using sodium silicate, sodium aluminate, etc. The zeolite particles are treated with an acid to remove sodium and aluminum contents and made amorphous. Amorphous silica which is amorphous silica with respect to X-ray diffraction and has 0.1-50mum primary particle diameter is obtained.
