Control devices for dérailleurs, in particular for bicycles, which are arranged in rear dérailleurs, front dérailleurs or shifters. The control devices convert a shifting movement, performed in only one direction by the rider, in both shifting directions in such a manner that the drive chain is moved, by an amount which is separately matched for each shifting step, beyond the shift positions and, after the drive chain rests on the sprocket wheel of a shift position, is brought back to the latter. By means of this automatically controlled sequence of movements, shifting operations can be carried out reliably and quickly by the rider without the rider delicately moving a shift lever back and forth for this purpose.
