PURPOSE:To carry out even and excellent coating by providing a communicating means connecting directly with the atmosphere to a bead reduced-pressure chamber, and further connecting a sucking and depressurizing means to the outside of the bead reduced-pressure chamber in a slide bead coating device. CONSTITUTION:The reduced-pressure chamber of the slide bead coating device consists of the bead reduced-pressure chamber 32 and the sucking and depressurizing chamber 31, and the sucking and depressurizing chamber 31 is depressurized by a pressure reducing pump 33. The bead reduced-pressure chamber 32 penetrates into the sucking and depressurizing chamber 31, and both chambers 31 and 32 communicate with a web 2 traveling over a backup roll 1 through the gap between both chambers 31 and 32. Namely, the bead reduced-pressure chamber 32 is depressurized through the reduced pressure of the sucking and depressurizing chamber 31. One or plural atmosphere communicating pipes 34 having an atmosphere control valve 35 are provided, and the chamber 32 is capable of communicating directly with the atmosphere. By such a constitution, an appropriate reduced pressure can be kept in the bead reduced- pressure chamber 32, a uniform air current is formed by the inflow of some quantity of the atmosphere, hence an instable effect is not exerted on the bead, and uneven coating can be prevented.
