A method is described for detecting plant pathogens, in particular fungi, bacteria, viruses and/or viroids, in soil samples by accumulation in plants which are sensitive to these plant pathogens to act as traps, and by the conventional detection of the plant pathogens in the tissue of the plants or the parts of the plants, characterised in that the plants to act as traps are groups of 5 to 30 plants which are obtained by simultaneous sowing in a device in which standardised and/or optimised nutrient medium is arranged, and which are transplanted into the soil samples to be tested in the form of a group of a defined growth stage.
