In the case of outside rearview mirrors, the mirror glass supports of the latter are adjusted by means of threaded spindles. The relatively long threaded spindles ensure that the mirror is relatively high and expensive to construct, because the spindle articulation points move around a circular path, for which compensation has to be made by the mounting in a sprung manner of a wormwheel which drives the threaded spindles, in order to avoid tensioning. In order to reduce the necessary depth of construction when a mirror is articulated, there are provided, instead of the threaded spindles which are usually present, adjustment elements which are pivotably connected to geared motors and are displaceably guided on the mirror glass support. The outside rearview mirror then only has a flat mirror casing and expensive measures to avoid vibration and secure against twisting of the mirror glass support are no longer necessary.
