PURPOSE:To prevent a comatic error from overcompensation by installing a subcoil at the neck side of a deflecting yoke together with a field controller, making this subcoil act on a negative compensation direction where the comatic error is increased, and saturating this action with the working of a diode. CONSTITUTION:A vertical deflecting field is varied yet more in the direction of a panel 21 by the subcoil 1 set up at the side of an electron gun 26 of a deflecting yoke 27, and negative compensation takes place in contrast with compensation (positive compensation) of a comatic error in the vertical direction of a field controller 29. Here, since a diode pair 4 are connected to subcoils 2a and 2b in parallel, the negative compensation of the comatic error in the vertical direction by these subcoils 2a and 2b is saturated, and this compensation is combined together with the positive compensation of the comatic error in the vertical direction by the field controller 29. In this manner, overcompensation for the comatic error in and around the intermediate part of a faceplate vertical axis is preventable.
