PURPOSE:To enhance the electric chargeability of a photosensitive body, to lower its residual potential, and to reduce the variance of electric characteristics due to repeated uses by using a polymer of the built-up monomolecular film of an amphoteric hydrolipophilic compound for an interlayer. CONSTITUTION:The electrophotographic sensitive body is formed by successively laminating on a conductive substrate the interlayer, an electric charge generating layer, and a charge transfer layer, and the interlayer is formed by polymerizing the built-up monomolecular film of the amphoteric hydrolipophilic compound A, such as diacetylene derivative of formula I, a long-chain vinyl compound of formula II, or a diene type long-chain compound of formula III. In these formulae, X is a hydrophilic group; each of R1, R2 and R is a hydrophobic group. The interlayer is formed by transferring the monomolecular film of the compound A onto the substrate by the Langmuir-Blodgett's method or the like, and polymerizing it by light, electron beams, or the like.
