PURPOSE:To prevent breakage of a nozzle and crack of a cast slab by pouring molten metal while giving periodic vibration toward casting direction to the nozzle inserting into the space of one pair of caterpillar moving molds to cut off connection of solidified shell at tip of the nozzle and solidified shell at rear end of the cast slab. CONSTITUTION:The nozzle 5 of a tundish 4 is inserted into the space 3 composing of one pair of caterpillar moving block molds 1 and the vibration is given to it at every the prescribed time toward casting direction by actuator 7. The poured molten metal 8 is flowed into the space 3 and the solidified shells 10, 9 are formed at the tip part of the nozzle 5 and the rear end of the cast slab. Even in case both solidified shells 10, 9 begin to connect, they are cut off by the above mechanical vibration. Further, by this vibration, the molten metal 8' flow at triple points is strengthened and the contacting point of the solidified shells 10, 9 is easily melted, and the solidified shell at contacting point is easily and surely cut off. As the solidified shell at the position, which is apart a little from tip of the nozzle 5, is cut off, the nozzle 5 is not damaged and also the cast Slab is scarcely influenced. |
