PURPOSE:To make a control electrode unnecessary and improve the productivity and visibility of a high-density panel by arranging digit display control electrodes on an insulating anode substrate and forming a display pattern electrode common to the adjacent digit on a dielectric film on them. CONSTITUTION:An Al thin film is deposited on an insulating substrate 1, control electrodes 61 divided for each digit are formed, and a dielectric film 41 is formed on them. An Al thin film is deposited again, and a display pattern electrode 2 containing inter-digit connecting wires is formed at a position facing the electrodes 61. Then, a phosphor film is formed on the electrode 2 to provide a display pattern 3. Next, a filament 7 is arranged at an adequate distance from the pattern 3, further an inner transparent conductive film is applied, a cover glass 8 attached with an exhaust pipe 9 is stuck to an anode substrate and sealed after exhaustion, the electrodes 61 are capacity-coupled at the facing place via the electrode 2 and a dielectric film 41 to obtain the display pattern.
