Ther element comrpises thin strips of plate so that it is effective as far as heat conductivity is concerned. Between the plate sides are insulated soft iron plates held together by porcelain insulation. - The element can be used as a converter between temp. difference and electrical force, and in a fluid of heat-insulating material, e.g. silicon acryl foam plastic, functions as a capacitor with a temp. difference between its sides in the fluid and in proportion to the voltage applied to it. This enables it to be employed for balancing direct current in diode rectifiers in electrical mains components. |
