PURPOSE:To prevent a memory from generating useless space by storing the brightness value of a hand-writing memory brightness table specified by a user in entries corresponding to the brightness values 2<n-1>-2<n>-1 of a brightness table in a display device. CONSTITUTION:A brightness value Bi in the entry for a density value (i) in an overlay memory brightness table 18 specified by the user at the time of initializing the system is transferred to the entry for the density value (i) in a brightness table 8 in a display device. On the other hand, the brightness value Br in the hand-writing memory brightness table 28 specified by the user is transferred to the entries for density values 8-15 in the table 8. In case of transferring and displaying an image in which the data of one picture element consist of one bit from a host computer 1 to the display, the data are transferred from the host computer 1 to the plane of the overlay memory 7 on the display side and displayed by using the entries corresponding to density values 8-15 previously registered in the brightness table 8. |
