PURPOSE:To obtain a sponge rubber useful as powder puff for cosmetic, etc. by using less than a specific amount of sulfur and tetramethyl thiuram disulfide and a specific amount of 2-mercapto-benzothiazole zinc salt as a vulcanizing agent and vulcanization accelerator. CONSTITUTION:The objective sponge rubber can be produced by compounding (A) a natural or synthetic rubber latex with (B) a vulcanizing agent and vulcanization accelerator composed of (i) <=1.5pts.wt. of sulfur and/or (ii) <=5.0pts. of tetramethyl thiuram disulfide and (iii) 1.0-2.0pts. of 2-mercapto-benzothiazole zinc salt.
