PURPOSE:To easily calculate the phase speed of the ultrasonic wave of the wall part of piping when a flow rate and a flow speed are measured, by providing the ultrasonic wave reflecting surface crossing the advance direction of an internal reflected wave at a right angle ahead of the advance direction of the ultrasonic wave component, which is internally reflected from an ultrasonic wave emitting surface, in a wedge member. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic transmitter-receiver 1 is equipped with a wedge member 1A and an ultrasonic vibrator 1B. The wedge member 1A has a trapezoidal cross-section and the ultrasonic vibrator 1B is fixed to one inclined surface 1a thereof. The other inclined surface 1c thereof constitutes the ultrasonic wave reflecting surface crossing a propagation route, when the ultrasonic wave transmitted from the ultrasonic vibrator 1B is reflected from an ultrasonic wave emitting surface 1b to propagate through the wedge member 1A, at a right angle. Therefore, the internal reflected wave propagating through the wedge member 1A returns toward the ultrasonic vibrator 1B. By this constitution, the phase speed of the ultrasonic wave of the pipe wall part of piping can be easily calculated when a flow speed and a flow rate are measured.
