PURPOSE:To decrease the operating frequency for input of KANJI (Chinese characters) including many homophonous characters, by outputting the phrase data of homophonous characters converted into KANJI by each KANJI data unit. CONSTITUTION:The HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) of KANJI supplied from a Japanese rendering input part 1 is stored in a Japanese rendering temporary storing part 2 and displayed at a display part 10 via a display contents storing part 9. Under such conditions, the first conversion instruction signal is outputted from a single KANJI conversion instructing part 12. Thus KANJI conversion instruction signal is sent to a KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI converting part 5 from a single KANJI conversion state part 13 in reply to said conversion instruction signal. Then the part 5 refers to a dictionary part 7 to convert successively the KANJI into the phrase data in reply to said KANJI conversion instruction signal and stores successively the phrase data into a phrase data storing part 8 in the prescribed order. Then a first KANJI data is read out of the part 8 by a KANJI selecting part 14 and displayed at the part 10. This operation is carried out every time the conversion instruction signal is outputted from the part 12. Thus the operating frequency is decreased for input of KANJI.
