PURPOSE:To increase the surface hardness of multifoam glass and to enhance sound insulating performance by calcining the laminated material of the layer of a raw material for foam glass and the layer of a raw material for shell glass having prescribed bulk specific gravity respectively and forming crack patterns on the surface of the layer of shell glass. CONSTITUTION:Both a raw material for foam glass consisting of a granulated mixture of fine glass powder, a foaming agent and a binder and a raw material for shell glass consisting of the granulated mixture which consists of fine glass powder and the binder or furthermore the foaming agent and has <=300mu particle diameter and/or glass particles are prepared. The layer of the raw material for shell glass and the layer of the raw material for foam glass are laminated and calcined. The layer of foam glass having <0.8 bulk specific gravity and the layer of shell glass having >=0.8 bulk specific gravity and 3-20mm thickness are integrally formed. Parallel and tortoise shell-like crack patterns are arranged on the surface of this layer of shell glass.
