PURPOSE:To obtain a sufficiently high-speed mode easily while maintaining printing quality at high level by providing dot matrices of printing image data through the alternate use of two different types of distributed dots i.e., those printed with a black printing head and those printed with color printing heads in an overlapped manner. CONSTITUTION:When image data 1 is composed of a plurality of dot matrices (oo-mn), these matrices (oo-mn) are developed to line buffers 46a, 46b, 46c, 46d by a color data decomposition part 45 per color by providing a zigzag pattern dot matrix (B) consisting of dots arranged every other dot to a black line buffer 46d, and the remaining dot matrices (B') to the other line buffers 46a, 46b, 46c in an overlapped manner. If these different types of dot matrices (B), (B') are alternately printed, image data 1 consisting of dot matrices of two different colors (B, B') is obtained. |
