PURPOSE:To detect a gap irregularity by forming different parallel slanting-line pattern on a glass substrate except a display pattern and forming moire fringes at intersection parts of the parallel slanting-line patterns. CONSTITUTION:Display patterns are formed of a common electrode 3 and segment electrodes 4 on glass substrates 1 and 2. An infinite number of parallel slanting-line patterns 5 are formed even in the area on the glass substrate 2 where the common electrode 3 is formed except the common electrode 3 by using an ITO film, etc. Similarly, parallel slanting-line patterns 6 in the opposite direction from the parallel slanting-line patterns 5 on the side of the common electrode 3 are formed in the area on the glass substrate 1 except the segment electrodes 4 and their lead-round wires 4'. The parallel slanting-line patterns 5 and 6 are in the opposite directions when the substrates 1 and 2 are put one over the other. Consequently, plural longitudinal moire fringes are formed in areas where the slanting-line patterns 5 and 6 cross each other and the gap has an irregularity owing to a dust or pillar, the moire fringes are disordered, so the curvature of a glass substrate is found at a look.
