PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a web taking-up operation without interrupting same by cutting off the web when a predetermined length of web is wound around a winding core and winding the leading end of the cut web around a new winding core with a web end winding device. CONSTITUTION:When the leading end of a web Q is wound around a winding core R at an inlet 14a of a web take-up section 13, the web roller S is moved to the outlet section 13b side while becoming thicker so that a new next winding core R can be supplied to the inlet of web take-up section 13 through a rotary drum 46 and a guide 44. And when a predetermined length of web Q is wound around the winding core R in the take-up section 13, the traveling web Q is cur off by a cutter 3 to be discharged from the outlet 13b while the leading end of cut web Q is wound around a newly supplied winding core R by a web end winder 5. Thus, the web roll can be continuously produced without interrupting the web take-up operation to improve the efficiency thereof.
