PURPOSE:To reversely rotate a motor at the time of setting a floppy disk upside down to read and write data by providing a motor which is rotated forward and reverse, a magnetic head which can read and write data even at the time of reverse rotating the motor, and a switching circuit. CONSTITUTION:An index sensor 12 and a write protect sensor 10 for the rear face of a both sides floppy disk, a motor 14 which rotates the floppy disk forward and reverse, magnetic heads 4 and 5 which can read and write data even at the time of reverse rotating the motor 14, and a switching circuit 7 which switches the rotation direction of the motor 14 and switches signal lines for the front face and the rear face of the floppy disk are provided. If the floppy disk is set upside down, the motor 14 is reverse rotated to read and write data. Thus, simple device and mechanism are added to use the floppy disk regardless of its front and rear faces.
