The present invention relates to a method for limiting the intake of air into a furnace, such as a forging furnace, as well as a furnace for implementing this method. According to the invention, a curtain of gas is formed by injecting compressed air through a slot placed at the intake of the furnace in the vicinity of the lower part of the opening, this slot being oriented so as to produce a curtain of air which lies substantially inside a dihedron, the intersecting edge of which is constituted by the slot and the faces of which form an angle with the plane of the opening of the oven which lies between approximately 10 and 50 DEG , the injection of compressed air through the slot being triggered upon opening the door of the furnace and stopped substantially upon closing it. <IMAGE>
