The invention relates to a plough fold head with an adjustable working width for the continuously running, unfolded web section. In the case of the longitudinal fold position having to be changed for production reasons, the new plough fold head does not need to be exchanged by hand, instead the web-supporting device is moved to the required support width by means of a motor. The axial adjustment path to be provided in the web-supporting device is bridged so that the support surface of the web-supporting device coming into contact with the web in the looping region is virtually continuous. As a result, the risk of marking is slight. The plough fold head which can be adjusted to different working widths can be used for simple longitudinal folding and, in conjunction with a further, subsequent longitudinal folding device which may be a former, for zigzag folding and double gate folding. <IMAGE>
