摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To promote the improvement of output, by controlling an operating angle of intake and exhaust valves and substantially decreasing the charging efficiency of working gas lower than the conventional level so that compression ratio is high increased by suppressing the generation of knocking. CONSTITUTION:When the invention is applied to a four-cycle spark-ignition engine, the engine sets the opening and closing timing of an exhaust valve similarly as in the past while the opening and closing timing of an intake valve such that its opening angle is set as in the past while its closing angle is set about 90 deg. earlier as compared with the past, that is, to a BBDC side. In this way, the engine, decreasing the charging efficiency of working gas to about 50% the conventional one, is prevented from easily generating knocking. And the engine, preventing the knocking from being easily generated, enables the compression ratio to be obtained about 200% of the conventional compression ratio, thus the improvement of output is attained.</p>
