摘要 PURPOSE:To synchronize the progress of discharge between the main discharge electrodes with a laser beam so as to obtain the high laser amplification by a method wherein in preparatory ionization circuit, discharge gap intervals of mutually neighboring preparatory ionization circuits shall be (d) and ray velocity shall be (c) while a circuit constant shall be set so that the arrival time difference of pulses reaching each discharge gap of these preparatory circuits may become d/c. CONSTITUTION:Synchronization of the progress of discharge between the main discharge electrodes 1 with a laser beam is regulated by a circuit constant of preparatory ionization circuits 4 performing preparatory ionization of each discharge area so that discharge may be generated in the next discharge area, when discharge is started between one end parts of the main discharge electrodes 1 and laser beam having passed the discharge area of the one end part. Thereby, traveling wave excitation is performed. Owing to this, an interval of the discharge gaps 3 of the mutually neighboring preparatory ionization circuits 4 performing preparatory ionization respectively shall be (d) and ray velocity shall be (c), then the time difference in starting discharge between the main discharge electrode 1 in the mutually neighboring discharge areas shall be made to satisfy td=d/c. Thereby, the progress of discharge between the main discharge electrodes can be synchronized with a laser beam so as to amplify laser beam with high efficiency.
