PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body high in sensitivity and small in photomemory effect by forming on a conductive substrate a laminate type photosensitive layer composed of an electrostatic charge generating layer contg. a specified azacyanine type dye in a granular state and an electrostatic charge transfer layer. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic charge generating layer is formed directly on the conductive substrate or on an undercoat layer formed on it by coating and drying it with a coating fluid obtained by dispersing into the alcohol soln. of a butyral resin or the like the azacyanine dye represented by formulae I-V in which R1, R2 are each optionally substd. alkyl or aralkyl or aryl; n is 0 or 1; A, B are each a residue necessary for forming an optionally substd. 5- or 6-membered hetero ring or such a ring condensed with an optionally substd. aromatic ring; and X<-> is an anion. The charge transfer layer is formed by coating this layer with a soln. contg. an org. charge transfer material and a binder resin. The use of a specified granular azacyanine type dye serviceable as a superior charge generating material permits the obtained photosensitive body to be high in sensitivity and free from the photomemory effect that the photosensitive body exposed to light before charging in the dark is lowered on the surface potential after charging as compared with the unexposed part and the part of a formed image is droped-out. |
