It is described how waste coals can be mixed with ammonium salts of organic or inorganic type or of sulphur-nitrogen compounds from the simultaneous wet-scrubbing process, likewise fine white lime and/or limestone as individual products or together with waste coals, in such a way that, by the addition of small, stoichiometrically chosen quantities of reducing coal to the main fuel used, an inexpensive reduction in pollutants, preferably NOx and sulphur oxides, takes place automatically at low investment cost.
