The invention relates to a process and a device for the extrusion of plastics pipes. Plastics pipes are today provided with a socket such that the end of the pipe is heated, after which the end is widened with the aid of a mandrel or a pressure medium. This measure calls for a special socket-making machine and it consumes time and thermal energy. According to the invention, the socket 22 is formed, in connection with the extrusion of the pipe, in a device in which a mandrel 8 is surrounded by chill moulds 1,2 which are movable in the axial direction of the device, by a part of the chill moulds being configured with a cavity 16 conforming to the shape of the socket 22 and by the ductile plastics hose 11, which emerges from the nozzle 10, being pressed in the region of the cavity against the walls of the latter by means of compressed air. <IMAGE>
