PURPOSE:To smoothly and surely steer a traveling car by adopting speed control for controlling the rotational frequency of wheels. CONSTITUTION:One 1a of two wheels 1a, 1b is used as a driving wheel and the other 1b is used as a driven wheel. The steering control system is constituted of an angle detector 3, a control part 4, a brake 5, and a function generator 7. The function generator 7 converts a speed command v'' generated from the control part 4 into a motor driving signal and applies the converted signal to a coil of a stator 13. The control part 4 is constituted of a processor to input a current steering angle to the detector 3, to control the ON/OFF of the brake 5 and to control the speed of the driving wheel 1a. Thus, the steering angle can be controlled by rotating a steering shaft 2 based on the speed control of the driving wheel 1a.
