PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a font memory and to print a small character such as a super-subscript character or a subscript character at an arbitrary height position, by containing blank indicating data printing a blank part to be provided above or below of the small character to be printed in the character data of a character generating circuit. CONSTITUTION:In a printing example of the N-th line, a super-subscript character '2' reads 180 bites from the leading head address of the pattern of a small character '2' and a subscript character '3' reads 180 bites from an address wherein 90 addresses are subtracted from the leading head address of the pattern of a small character '3'. Character data containing blank indicating data printing a blank part like this is written in a text buffer performing printing. Therefore, the character pattern of one kind of the small character is stored in font ROM to make it possible to print both of the super-subscript character and the subscript character and the capacity of font ROM is reduced corresponding to this and the quantity of the blank part is indicated by the blank indicating data to make it possible to print the small character at an arbitrary position. |
