PURPOSE:To upgrade mass resolution of daughter ions by interposing a filter, through which only ions satisfying a specified condition are made to pass, between a collision activation room and a source slit so that parent ions are not passable during detection of the daughter ions. CONSTITUTION:A filter 3 is interposed between a collision activation room 2 and a source slit 6 in order to separate parent and daughter ions depending on differences in their physical characteristics of energy and momentum and the like. The filter 3 is controlled interlocking with a double focusing mass spectrograph so that the same daughter ions are passable there. Therefore, if all explosions occur in a space between the collision activation room 2 and the source slit 6 and does not occur in a space between the source slit 6 and the primary part, assumptively, an orbit 5 of the daughter ions does not shift from an essential orbit which satisfies a double focusing condition so that the daughter ions focus a sharp image. Thus, the orbit 5 of the daughter ions is not prevented from shifting and so mass resolution of the daughter ions can be upgraded. |
