PURPOSE:To obtain a high-accuracy output with simple constitution by generating a binary signal when the ratio of signal levels of >=2 pieces of detected position information reaches a prescribed value, and generating detected position information according to the signal. CONSTITUTION:The resistance values Rb and Rs of M/R elements 11 and 12 vary with the intensity of a magnetic field. Balance variations of those resistance values are detected by amplifiers 101 and 105, which output an A-phase signal 102 and a B-phase signal 106. The signals 102 and 106 are converted by comparators 103 and 107 into binary signals, which are outputted and an A signal 104 and B signal 108. Those signals 102 and 106 are 90 deg. out of phase with each other and the signals 104 and 108 are also 90 deg. out of phase with each other. The signals 102 and 106 are compared by a comparator with each other, and when the signal 108 is high, a D signal 116 which leads the signal 104 by 45 deg. is outputted. Further, the signal 102 is inverted and amplified 110 and the resulting the inverse of A signal 111 and signal 116 are compared 112 with each other, so that when the signal 106 has a higher voltage level, a C signal 113 which leads the signal 104 by 125 deg. is outputted. |
