PURPOSE:To generate large driving force by fixing a vibrational element to a base and turning a rotor through a cylinder by the vibrational element. CONSTITUTION:An annular-shaped vibrational element 1 is polarized by joining electrostrictive elements 2 through four split electrodes 3. The vibrational element 1 is arranged onto the upper surface of a metallic base 5, and a cylinder 6 made of a metal is placed. Male screw sections 9 shaped at the upper and lower ends of a screw lever 8 are each screwed to female screws 10 and 11 in said element 1 and cylinder 6, thus holding the vibrational element 1 by pressure. A rotor 13 is placed onto the cylinder 6, and an output shaft 16 for the rotor 13 is supported by a bearing 17 and protrudes to the outside from a cover plate 19 for a cylinder body 18. Consequently, circumferential progressive waves propagated in the cylinder 6 work on the rotor 13 by driving the vibrational element 1. Accordingly, revolving torque can be picked up from the output shaft 16 by the rotor 13. |
