<p>PURPOSE:To protect detectors from meandering of rolled stock and to accurately control a roll gap by providing a supporting device for roll displacement detectors on an axial line connecting work roll and comparing the signals of displacements from the detectors to control the rolling reduction. CONSTITUTION:The work roll displacement detectors 12, 13 of the work rolls 1, 2 are inserted between auxiliary roll barrels 10, 11 by push pull cylinders 21, 22 and positioned on the line S connecting the axial lines of the work rolls 1, 2. In this state, supporting arms 19, 20 are fixed on supporting blocks 17, 18 by backlash killing cylinders 23, 24. In this way, the movements of the detectors 12, 13 are suppressed and because the supporting arms 19, 20 are connected by a connecting bar 25, the relative interval between the detectors 12, 13 is kept constant. Therefore, the displacements in the up and down directions of the work rolls 1, 2 varying their work roll gaps are obtained by adding the detected signals from the detectors 12, 13 by an adder 26, then this value is compared with a set signal 27 by the comparator 28 and based on this difference, a position control device 31 is controlled to control the roll gap.</p> |
