PURPOSE:To increase the conductivity of an active material layer and to improve cycle performance by adding fine electroless nickel plated hollow balls having many pores on the wall to an active material. CONSTITUTION:Fine electroless nickel plated hollow balls having many pores on the wall are added to an active material layer mainly comprising cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide. Since the fine hollow balls have conductivity because of nickel plating, the conductivity of the negative active material layer added with the hollow balls is increased and the oxygen gas absorbing capability is also increased. Although the electrolyte poured in a assembly process is retained in an anode, a part of the electrolyte penetrates into the hollow balls through pores on the wall and is retained in the inside of the hollow balls. Thereby, the cycle performance of a battery substantially increased. |
