A device in which a piezoelectric sensor cable (8) is used is specified for triggering an explosive charge. The sensor cable (8) lies on a fixed base (13) and is covered by a cover (14) which is mechanically robust but can be deformed. In the event of a sudden load on the sensor cable (8), in the case of which the cover (14) is deformed, the sensor cable (8) produces a voltage pulse which is passed via a cable (16) to trigger the explosive charge. <IMAGE>
