A description is given of a process for anchoring an anchor bolt in a hole, in the case of which process the anchor bolt is inserted into the hole by means of its shank, widened at the front end of the shank, in the region of an undercut, and the interspace between the shank and the hole wall is filled with a composite mortar. In this arrangement, the undercut is not formed by the action of hard-metal pins or special drills at the widened, lower end region by widening the bore, but the, for example cylindrical, bore remains cylindrical and the undercut is achieved is that the composite mortar forms, in the set state, a solid body between the inner wall of the bore and the outer wall of the shank, and said solid body consisting of composite mortar assumes a correspondingly conically widened form in the region of the widened, lower shank end.
